Vanessa is mother to daughter Meredith, who is 7 and a half months old. Vanessa loves kissing her chubby cheeks, taking her for walks in the park with her puppy brothers and rocking her to sleep. She also loves watching her play with her daddy.

Vanessa works a full-time job, is obtaining her Doctorate Degree and is involved in multiple organizations statewide.

She says the hardest part of being a working mom is coming to terms with the mommy guilt. “When I drop her off at the babysitter each day, I have a really difficult time leaving, especially if I know I have an obligation or a class that I have to attend after normal work hours.”

Vanessa says, “The best part of being a working mom is recognizing, within me, the incredible capacity of mothers – The capacity to manage, prioritize, do, be and LOVE. Before I was a mother, I was constantly in awe of working moms. It is incredible to reflect on my own experience and realize I am capable of things I never dreamed I could do.”

She also loves the moment she sees her baby after work. “I love to see her big smile and hear her baby babble!”

Vanessa’s advice to other moms is to keep top priorities in your daily to-do list that include nurturing your mental and physical health. “We so easily lose sight of our own wellbeing while we tend to others, she said. “It is imperative that we take care of ourselves, as well.”
