Margaret Chapman Pomponio

She/Her/Hers

Chief Executive Officer

She is a seasoned advocate and leader in social justice work with a BA in sociology and MA in political science. She has led WV FREE since 2002 when she began to earnestly expand reproductive health, rights, and justice work in her home state. She has received recognition for her work, including a “Woman of Vision” award from Gloria Steinem through the Ms. Foundation for Women. Her career has been varied, from serving in AmeriCorps, working with the Lummi Nation in Washington, to teaching Political Science in West Virginia. She deeply values working in coalition and is called upon regularly to speak around the state and country.

Margaret serves on the Groundswell Fund Advisory Board. She is also a founding member of OneKanawha, a community-based anti-oppression group, and is active in St. John’s Episcopal Church of Charleston, a parish that actively engages in social justice outreach and ministry. She is the mother to 2-year-old twins and stepmother to two teenagers.


Julie Tawney Warden

Chief Operations Officer

She has a BS in journalism with a minor in communications from West Virginia University, where she was an athlete on the women’s track team. She came to WV FREE with over 10 years of experience in public relations, communications, marketing, branding, and outreach. She is a former Mrs. West Virginia International and dedicated a year to traveling throughout her home state to promote a positive image for West Virginia.

At WV FREE, Julie is directly involved with outreach, communications, government affairs and operations. She is the State Coordinator for Raising Women’s Voices, a co-founder of “The 100” in Charleston, a group dedicated to giving to local charitable organizations, and was a member of the Leadership West Virginia class of 2013. She resides in Charleston with her daughter.


Judi Nuckolls

Executive Coordinator

She has over 20 years’ experience working with nonprofits in West Virginia. Though she originally received her BS in secondary education from Bluefield State College, she found her passion in nonprofit work, lending her expertise to organizations such as the WV Nurses Association, Consulting and Professional Engineers, WV Women’s Commission, and the American Heart Association.

Prior to joining the WV FREE team, Judi was part of the Bureau of Public Health’s Family Planning Program, where she worked with more than 160 clinics throughout the state to train providers and monitor compliance with Title X Family Planning Guidelines. She also worked closely with the Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Initiative, sat on the “Reconnect McDowell County Program” teen pregnancy board, and was an active member of the statewide Leadership to Prevent Teen Pregnancy Task Force.


Carrie-Meghan Quick-Blanco

She/Her/Hers

WISE Program Director

She received her BA in international studies from Ohio University and a MS in naturopathy from Clayton College of Natural Health. She has over a decade of experience in business, management, and professional development. Carrie-Meghan has provided professional development on 21st century education, global studies, and STEM topics, helping to found a satellite branch of Carnegie Mellon University’s CREATE Lab at Marshall University’s June Harless Center. She is a DONA-certified birth doula and Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC).

Carrie-Meghan is passionate about choices in childbirth and providing women with evidenced-based information to make the best choices for themselves and their families. She is the mother to a beautiful two-year-old son.


Anduwyn Williams

She/Her/Hers

Director for Reproductive Health Access

She received her BA in Psychology from Lee University. Her passion for reproductive rights and justice has been a guiding force throughout her twelve years of work ranging from domestic violence prevention and support to mental health counseling. At WV FREE, Anduwyn leads multiple programs, including the Comprehensive Pregnancy Options referrals training, the “Love Your Birth Control” initiative, and trains school teachers to teach comprehensive sex education through the WISE program. She also takes a leadership role in helping WV FREE implement its commitment to self-care and undoing racism. Anduwyn collaborates with a variety of health and community organizations to ensure quality and accessible reproductive health exists for women and families in West Virginia. Anduwyn serves on the board of West Virginians for Affordable Health Care and was the first person in West Virginia awarded a CoreAlign Fellowship. In her free time, Anduwyn skates with West Virginia Roller Derby under her alter ego “WonderWyn”.


Katie Wolfe

Outreach Manager

She received her BBA in marketing from Marshall University, her MS in Integrated Marketing Communications from West Virginia University, and is currently studying towards her MAJ in New Media from Marshall University. She has always cared about reproductive justice and how much of an impact reproductive freedom can have on everyone. She got involved with WV FREE as an intern, then completed two fellowships with WV FREE before joining the staff full time.

When she’s not working, Katie is also passionate about animal rescue and loves going to rock shows.


Elijah Swain

Office Assistant

Before Elijah accepted the position of Office Assistant, he did contract work and volunteered with us for almost four years. His experience with WV FREE is impressive – he has participated in several door canvasses, logged hundreds of hours of voter outreach by phone banking, and tabled at multiple community events. Elijah has also helped with special events, and a variety of other organizational activities.

His commitment to the mission of WV FREE is evident in both his enthusiasm and the quality of his work. In his spare time, Elijah likes to watch movies, read anything that is horror or mystery-related, and spend time with his family and friends.


Charlie Mullins

Programs Coordinator

He Received his BA in English from West Virginia State University, where he also studied sociology and history. For the past four years prior to joining WV Free, he had taught in Hampshire County’s schools, where he worked extensively in education and systemic support. Charlie is passionate about advocacy and social justice, and aims to use his skills and experience to promote reproductive justice and information in ways that are both fact-based and empathetic.

Outside of his work, Charlie loves film, comics, and the paranormal, enjoys playing video and tabletop games, and writes.


Gates Campbell

Outreach Coordinator

He received both his MA in Communication Studies and his BA in English from Marshall University. Prior to joining the FREE team, Gates held an internship with CONTACT Huntington Inc., a rape crisis center whose work and mission stoked the fires of social justice and women’s health advocacy that had been burning in his heart for years. It was this drive and passion that eventually lead him to WVFREE’s door, and the rest, as they say, is history. In his role as the WVFREE Outreach Coordinator, Gates aims to use his skills and experience to inspire others to join the fight for reproductive health, rights, and justice.
